Why does my dog get the zoomies?

Zoomies are generally caused by a build-up of excess energy which is then released in one short burst. Don’t worry it is completely natural behavior.

One of the best things you can do to help with the zoomies is to get your dog moving! If you own a dog, you have probably found yourself wondering “How much exercise does a dog need every day?”

Taking your dog for a walk around the block is a great start, and it might be enough for breeds with lower exercise requirements. Here are a few of our favorite ways to play with our pups:

  • Hiking. Dogs love the great outdoors just as much as you do. Take your dog along on your next adventure or explore some new parks and trails in your area. Tucson is full of dog-friendly hikes. If you need suggestions, send us a text and we will share a few of our favorites!
  • Fetch. Fetch doesn’t have to be boring. Shake up your dog’s fetch routine by making her run uphill to retrieve a ball, or by tossing a ball into the water. Alternate between balls, Frisbees, or other prized toys. We like to alternate between short and long throws to keep your dog on her toes.
  • Obedience. Obedience work might not seem like exercise, but practicing recall, retrieving, and reinforcing basic commands offers mental stimulation, and exercise. You can also teach your dog fun new tricks.

Our dogs are more than just pets!

They are our children and family. We know you hate the thought of your pet being lonely. The look on your pet’s face when you head out for work or on vacation can leave us feeling guilt-ridden. We get it!

What our clients are saying.

  • Angela did such an awesome job with our dogs! This was the first time we have left our dogs in a very long time due to 2 of the 3 being elderly and needing extra care. Angela was very attentive to their needs. We never had to worry about how they were doing because she would send updates via texts with pictures several times a day. Angela also brought up the mail and took care of garbage. I think the house was cleaner when we came home than when we left. I would not hesitate to have Angela back to watch out furry babies.

  • Angela not only took care of all 4 of our cats each day but went above and beyond with pictures and updates everyday. She even watered our plants. I highly recommend!

  • We had a great first experience with Working for Wags! They came to our house to feed our two pups for several days while we were on vacation. Following their visits, they sent us updates by text and pictures by email, both which were greatly appreciated. They also helped us try to troubleshoot some odd behavior from our dogs, which turned out to be related to a smoke alarm that required battery replacement and was scaring the pups. Overall, we had a very positive experience and will definitely use Working for Wags again when we are out of town. :-)

  • I can't recommend Working For Wags enough! They worked hard to win over my two timid/uncertain dogs during the initial meet and greet and the subsequent trial runs we had prior to leaving on vacation. The dogs loved Payton and she sent lots of updates and pictures. This is absolutely the way to go if you have dogs like mine that don't do well in a boarding facility environment. Working For Wags took away the stress (and guilt) of leaving my boys and made sure they had an enjoyable time while we were away.

  • Justeen watched our cat for 5 days while we were gone for an extra long weekend. She also watered our plants and took the trash out even though we had forgotten to ask. When we came back our cat, who can be withdrawn after we've been away, acted like we had only been gone a couple of hours. We're very happy to have found this company.

  • I'd give them 10 stars if I could! The sitters are wonderful!! They are true animal lovers, and I trust them fully. One of my dogs has epilepsy, so finding sitters comfortable with the risk of a seizure can be tough. But, they came fully prepared and knowledgeable about what to do. If you love your dogs like I do, I highly recommend them!! 🐕💙
