If you haven’t already heard the good news, Tucson’s first indoor dog park and social spot is on the way!
With an opening date anticipated in fall of 2023, The Bark Park is about to shape our dog community for the better. Now is the time to prepare your favorite four-legged friend to discover this awesome local place to run, play, and so much more! That’s right– your dog will have to be vetted and pass a social test and follow the other rules to be okayed to join the park as a member.
So, let’s review how you can help your best bud pass with flying colors!
Since comfort and safety are top priority when it comes to any space for dogs, we’ll start with the obvious: vaccinations. As a good paw-rent you’ll probably already want to make sure your dog is up-to-date on their Bordetella, Parvo, Distemper, Lepto, and Rabies vaccinations. You’ll also want to have those records handy to turn in with your dog’s membership application!
However, it’s not all about the paperwork. How has your best friend’s training been going? While you’re visiting The Bark Park, you’ll be responsible for your dog’s behavior and safety. This means that we expect your best fur-riend to be prepared for social situations! This will include meeting and playing with other dogs, as well as interacting with other humans. You will want your dog to be prepped to go off-leash safely, meaning they’ll need to display a good recall, paw-fect manners for meeting other dogs of various sizes, and in general, positive social behaviors.
In other words, it’s time to prepare your pup to become a part of a pack! Remember, once you join The Bark Park, you and your best fur-riend will be expected to continue to follow all guidelines. You’ll want to keep a close eye on your best friend at all times, no matter their level of training. You’ll also need to listen to the Rufferees at all times– think of them as lifeguards for this space! You and your pup will need to follow their instructions for safe play.
