Dogs of Tucson is Tucson’s first indoor dog park– and what we do is special! We created this facility to give dogs a safe, happy atmosphere where they can come to run, play, and socialize all year long. Our team works to create a space that’s different than typical dog parks, daycare, and boarding facilities. One of the ways we do this is through providing a high level of professional, personal (pawsonal) care!
When a new dog joins our pack, they go through a social evaluation, where we test their temperament, social abilities, and level of comfortability in a variety of situations. From the start, we’re always paying individual care to each dog that comes through the doors. Moving forward, our team gets to know and learns how to read every dog that comes to visit. We’re experts in dog behavior and know how to watch out for good vs. bad interactions, but also things like when a dog is feeling: tired, overwhelmed, nervous, or if they’re just having a bad day.
We know each of our dogs, including their normal behaviors, what they like and dislike, and which dogs are their friends! This allows us to provide them with extra care to ensure their happiness and make them as comfortable as possible. We always work with them to make sure they have everything they need! This includes examples like:
- Some dogs tell us they are exhausted when they arrive in the morning, so we give them a comfortable bed and when they are ready to play, we will let them join the pack.
- Some dogs don’t know yet how to take play breaks, so we help them relax, lay down, and drink water when they’re getting overwhelmed.
- Some dogs are new to socializing and need extra time and care to get used to new friends– they might even need to start with some low energy friends they don’t find intimidating.
- Some dogs have bad days, just like us, and deserve some forgiveness for being grumbly or feeling antisocial.
We strive for a high level of care, in which every dog is professionally and lovingly looked after. They know they can rely on us for guidance, affection, and to keep their best interests in mind. How do we know? They give us those signs, too! Some dogs choose to come rest near (or fully lean up against) our team members when they need a break, because they know they’re in good hands.
If you’re looking for opportunities to socialize your dog, then we’d love to welcome your pup to the pack! Get in touch with us to schedule a social evaluation.
