We hear about it time and time again. Recently one of our clients sent us a copy of a letter that they sent to the newspaper. This letter was printed in the newspaper and she was also interviewed by another news outlet about it. Check it out below and let us know your thoughts.
Hello, I am writing to you about a situation that concerns me. Every Sunday, my son, my dogs and I go on a hike, usually along the Juan Bautista de Anza trail. We have been doing this for almost a year now. We vary where we start our hike; either in Tubac, the Abrego Trailhead or Historic Canoa Ranch. The last three Sundays we have encountered a situation that has made us uncomfortable.
We had an off leash dog running up to us. I want to note that there are signs at each trailhead that clearly state dogs must be on a leash; the one at Historic Canoa Ranch goes on to state it is a misdemeanor if your dog is not in your control. The owners of the off leash dog always say they are friendly. They seem to forgot that not every dog is friendly, that not every dog wants to be approached by a strange dog, that some dogs are fearful of other dogs.
I am requesting your help in reminding people who allow their dogs to be off leash on our hiking trails that not only is it illegal but it is also dangerous to not only their dogs but to others who want to enjoy the trails.
If you want to have your dog off leash, take them to a dog park. Be a responsible pet owner and leash your dog when you are on our trails so that everyone is able to enjoy our trails.
